About Me
As a dermatologist at 好色tv Langone, I am dedicated to providing care that goes beyond treating skin issues. I believe that dermatology offers a unique window into the whole person, where the skin serves as a dynamic organ reflecting deeper mechanisms and abnormalities within the body. My passion lies in managing inflammatory skin diseases, which sit at the intersection of a complex immune system and the skin鈥檚 critical role in environmental surveillance and maintaining health and wellbeing.
I specialize in treating a range of chronic skin conditions, including eczema, psoriasis, and rosacea. With over 30 years of experience in the field, I am double board certified in dermatology and preventive medicine鈥搊ccupational and environmental medicine. This dual expertise allows me to integrate insights from both fields to provide comprehensive patient care. My research focuses on identifying external triggers of disease, including chemicals and the interaction of light in the promotion of disease, which helps me offer targeted and effective treatments for my patients.
Throughout my career, I have been committed to proactive healthcare engagement. I encourage my patients to research their conditions and value independent, third-party reviews to make informed decisions about their care. My work has consistently emphasized the importance of patient engagement, responsiveness, and fostering strong partnerships to ensure a positive patient experience. Being part of 好色tv Langone allows me to collaborate with a team of experts, ensuring coordinated and seamless care for my patients.
My journey into medicine began in Brooklyn, NY, where I was inspired by my father, a chemist, and my mother, a special education teacher. The idea of using science to help people navigate the most challenging moments of their lives has always captivated me. This inspiration, coupled with my interest in the complex interactions between the environment and the skin, led me to pursue a career in dermatology. My educational background includes an MD and an MPH, which have equipped me with the knowledge and skills to excel in my field and provide the highest quality care to my patients.

Research Summary
The Allergy Unit, in conjunction with the Occupational and Environmental Dermatology program at 好色tv, evaluates hundreds of individuals per year to determine their reactivity to environmental allergens. Groups of patients are often evaluated if a common source allergen is suspected of causing or contributing to dermatologic and/or systemic illness. This is accomplished by utilizing the hundreds of allergens available for patch and intracuteneous testing.
The unit also employs ultraviolet light to enhance this regimen when testing potentially photoactive chemicals. It has taken an active role in the determination of immediate type hypersensitivity reactions to latex rubber in employees of this and other medical centers. Recently, it retrospectively analyzed data from over 700 patients patch tested in the Allergy Unit to determine the relevancy and predictive value of the standard allergens series used for patch testing in the United States. The study concluded that important deficiencies exist in the utility of this limited series and substantially more allergens are needed to adequately diagnose the causes of contact dermatitis.
The unit continues to explore the safety and utility of common consumer ingredients as it amasses data on allergic reactivity in its patients. Its active participation nationally will serve to expand the armamentarium of new skin testing methods as well as apply older techniques for new uses. Representative
