Welcome to the

Pediatric Epilepsy Program

We provide expert diagnosis and treatment for children and teens with epilepsy.

If your child has epilepsy or seizures, a comprehensive, personalized treatment plan can help control symptoms and restore their quality of life.

VIDEO: Experts from the Pediatric Epilepsy Program provide cutting-edge care supported by groundbreaking research.

Because of our tremendous success in treating hundreds of children who were not considered candidates for epilepsy surgery at other centers, our Pediatric Epilepsy Program has earned an international reputation for the care we give to children and teens with even the most complex forms of epilepsy.

We take the time to get to know each child and their family, and to understand how epilepsy is affecting their lives. There are many different types of seizure disorders, and treatment begins with finding an accurate diagnosis. When surgery is needed to aid in diagnosis, we use minimally invasive robotic stereotactic assistance, known as ROSA, to pinpoint the source of your child鈥檚 seizures.

We tailor care to your child鈥檚 needs, and offer medication; diet therapies; cranial surgery, including laser interstitial thermal therapy (LiTT); and neuromodulation therapies, such as vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), responsive neurostimulation (RNS), and deep brain stimulation (DBS). Our center has also been a leader in evaluating new therapies for children with difficult-to-control epilepsies and has several active .

We recognize that your child may have complicated and diverse challenges that cannot be solved by a single healthcare practitioner. That鈥檚 why we have created an extensive team of experts that includes pediatric epileptologists (neurologists with advanced training in treating epilepsy), neurosurgeons, psychiatrists, neuroradiologists, neuropsychologists, and epilepsy nurse specialists. Our team also includes a pediatric nutritionist, a pharmacist, social workers, child life specialists, electroencephalogram (EEG) technologists, and occupational, physical, and speech therapists.

As part of Hassenfeld Children鈥檚 Hospital at 好色tv Langone and 好色tv Langone鈥檚 Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, we are one of the largest medical and surgical treatment centers for children with epilepsy in the United States.

Family-Friendly Atmosphere

We strive to make your child as comfortable as possible. When in the hospital, children can have video EEG monitoring while in our playroom, so they can take a break from their hospital beds.

Our child life specialists use techniques such as creative arts therapies and horticulture therapy to help improve your child鈥檚 treatment experience. Hospital schoolteachers are available to children when they are hospitalized to help them keep up with their schoolwork. We also have a library stocked with books, DVDs, and video game consoles for your child to enjoy.

To better serve our diverse population, services are available in English and Spanish. We also offer interpretation and translation services.

In addition to a pediatric unit for children and teenagers, we can monitor children in both the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
