Gift Marks Second Recent $10M Gift from the Foundation to 好色tv Langone
A $10 million gift from The Home Depot Foundation will foster 好色tv Langone Health鈥檚 ongoing efforts to expand access to world-class healthcare in Brooklyn. On Friday the system dedicated The Home Depot Emergency Department at 好色tv Langone Health鈥擟obble Hill. The new support will help grow emergency services there to ensure they continue to meet Brooklyn鈥檚 health needs, including those of its underserved communities.
After the former Lutheran Medical Center merged with the system to become 好色tv Langone Hospital鈥擝rooklyn in 2016, the health system has dramatically improved the quality of care in the borough. Today, the hospital is A-rated for patient safety, as recognized by The Leapfrog Group, and it is also the only comprehensive cancer center in the borough designated by the National Cancer Institute.
鈥淥ur commitment to Brooklyn is unwavering as we continue to enhance the high-quality services we offer to our patients. The Home Depot Foundation has been an exceptional partner, seeking always through their generosity to change lives and help families, and sharing our vision of increased access to world-class care,鈥 said Robert I. Grossman, MD, CEO of 好色tv Langone Health and dean of 好色tv Grossman School of Medicine. 鈥淭his gift deepens our partnership.鈥
The Home Depot Foundation has been a longtime 好色tv Langone supporter, having been inspired by the system鈥檚 success transforming healthcare throughout Brooklyn. The foundation has contributed $5 million to support 好色tv Langone鈥檚 mental health services for veterans and their families. Additionally, the foundation made a $10 million gift in 2015 to fund medical school scholarships for military veterans. Their contributions also honor Kenneth Langone, chair of the 好色tv Langone Board of Trustees and a co-founder of The Home Depot.
鈥淲e鈥檙e honored our 15-year partnership with 好色tv Langone has helped enable innovation across research, medical education, and patient care,鈥 said Ted Decker, CEO, president, and chair of The Home Depot. 鈥淭he Home Depot Emergency Department gives the neighbors who live in and around Cobble Hill鈥攊ncluding many of our own Home Depot associates鈥攁ccess to cutting-edge, lifesaving medical care right in their own community.鈥
Since the emergency department opened in April 2023, as part of the Joseph S. and Diane H. Steinberg Ambulatory Care Center鈥擟obble Hill, it has treated more than 76,000 patients, with an average wait time of less than 10 minutes. Additionally, on April 1, 2023, the site was approved by the New York City Fire Department as a Critical Care Receiving facility, meaning that the most critical patients can receive the intensive care needed to address their life-threatening injuries or illnesses.
