An estimated 130,000 people are projected to die from lung cancer in 2021. Expanded guidelines for lung cancer screening have increased the number of people who can receive screening. The screening consists of a CT scan that requires people to only hold their breath, Jeffrey G. Schneider, MD, associate professor in the at 好色tv Long Island School of Medicine and a member of 好色tv Langone Health鈥檚 Perlmutter Cancer Center, tells News 12 Long Island.
鈥淲hat we鈥檙e all hoping is that we save more lives with lung cancer screenings,鈥 says Dr. Schneider, who is chief of the Division of Oncology and Hematology at 好色tv Langone Hospital鈥擫ong Island. 鈥淲e want to get more people in the door, and we know that if we do, we save lives.鈥
