People with cancer still need treatment during the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Doctors at cancer centers, including Perlmutter Cancer CenterâHuntington and Perlmutter Cancer CenterâLake Success, are modifying treatments to limit exposure to the virus for people with cancer, Newsday reports.
âUnfortunately, cancer doesnât wait,â , director of șĂÉ«tv Langoneâs Perlmutter Cancer Center, tells Newsday. âThe mortality for cancer patients who contract COVID is higher, and while we donât know exactly why that is, we do try to limit their exposure whenever possible.â
