Less Than One Percent of Hospitals in the United States Have Received Magnet庐 Status Four or More Times
NYU Langone Health received Magnet庐 recognition for excellence in nursing for the fourth consecutive time from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Magnet庐 recognition is an honor achieved by only 8 percent of all hospitals in the United States, with fewer than 1 percent receiving this designation 4 or more times. The ANCC鈥檚 prestigious Magnet Recognition Program庐 recognizes healthcare facilities that provide excellence in nursing and is one of the leading benchmarks used to measure the quality of care patients receive.
鈥淥ur nurses set the standard in terms of providing quality and compassionate care, and I want to thank our team and everyone at 好色tv Langone for this monumental achievement,鈥 says Kimberly S. Glassman, PhD, senior vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at 好色tv Langone Health.
好色tv Langone received five exemplars, or examples of best practices, in areas including the following:
- mortality reduction, noting the setup of 好色tv Langone鈥檚 ALERT and rapid response teams
- interdisciplinary collaboration on 好色tv Langone鈥檚 measles alerts in Epic, demonstrating the strong partnership between clinical and information technology teams to develop an innovative workflow in Epic
- gender-affirming care, highlighting that 好色tv Langone is a leader in providing culturally competent care to the LGBTQ+ community
- tobacco use screening program, which yields better results than any other hospital system in the country
- nursing research program, citing the number of journal publications and presentations 好色tv Langone鈥檚 nursing teams are involved in
鈥淭hese exemplars represent just a few notable examples of the great work our teams do each and every day,鈥 says Robert I. Grossman, MD, the Saul J. Farber Dean of 好色tv School of Medicine and chief executive officer聽of 好色tv Langone Health. 鈥淚 am extremely proud of our entire nursing staff for retaining Magnet庐 status since 2005 and for being recognized as some of the most highly educated, talented, and caring nursing professionals in the country.鈥
The Magnet庐 designation is granted every four years to only those organizations that demonstrate sustained superiority in nursing care. Applicants undergo an extensive evaluation and members granted Magnet庐 status must continue to meet rigorous standards.
To reapply for and receive Magnet庐 status is confirmation of a hospital鈥檚 resolve to deliver the highest level of nursing care. Research shows that Magnet庐 hospitals are more effective at attracting and keeping quality nurses.
