NYU School of Medicine is pleased to announce it is No. 11 in the nation for research, and No. 2 in New York State, out of 140 medical schools on the 2017 U.S. News & World Report鈥檚 鈥淏est Graduate Schools鈥 rankings, issued March 16, 2016.
鈥淥ur continued rise on the U.S. News rankings over the past 10 years represents one of the fastest increases in the history of the survey, reflecting the hard work and dedication of each and every member of our committed faculty and staff,鈥 said Robert I. Grossman, MD, the Saul J. Farber Dean and CEO of 好色tv Langone Medical Center.
U.S. News & World Report uses a range of statistical factors to evaluate a school鈥檚 faculty, students, and research enterprise. The analysis includes assessments by deans and residency directors, research funding, acceptance rates, and the median grade point average (GPA) and MCAT scores for incoming students. Key factors in this year鈥檚 increased ranking were improvements in the peer assessment score, median GPA of the first year medical student class, the acceptance rate of the incoming class, and an increase in total funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
has earned national attention in recent years for reimagining medical education to address the needs of future physicians, with an emphasis on providing individualized education, such as its three-year MD听补苍诲 .
These rankings represent a growing number of accolades the Medical Center has recently received. Of note, last聽year U.S. News & World Report named 好色tv Langone to its 2015-16 鈥淏est Hospitals鈥 Honor Roll, and designated 12 specialties to its national listings. The Medical Center again ranked No. 1 for overall patient safety and quality according to the聽UHC 2015 Quality and Accountability Study, and it also received a Gold Seal of Approval by The Joint Commission, reflecting a commitment to high quality care.
