What is CBD

CBD, or cannabidiol, is the non-psychoactive compound found in the cannabis plant. It has tons of health benefits and does not cause any highs. Most CBD (including all of Natural Joy products) is extracted from hemp plants.

*Natural Joy only uses organic, all-natural, US-grown hemp.

Will I get "high" from CBD?

No, you will not get high from CBD.

Why does CBD smell like marijuana?

Even though CBD can, at times, resemble marijuana in terms of how it smells (and how the actual plant looks too), remember that cannabidiol is not marijuana. The reason CBD smells like marijuana comes down to the presence of similar terpenes and flavonoids in CBD, which are also found in marijuana. However, the differentiating factor is THC. CBD does not contain enough of it to be considered a psychoactive substance.

How long does it take to feel benefits of CBD?

Each person is different so the quick answer is: it depends. We tend to hear that our customers get the benefits of CBD within 30-40 minutes.

How much CBD should I take?

FOR PEOPLE: A general rule of thumb is to start with 15-30mg of CBD oil per day, and gradually increase your dosage as you learn more about how your body reacts to cannabidiol. For sleep, you will want to increase your dosage. We usually hear from our customers that 40-100mg helps them sleep better.

FOR PETS: The recommended dosage is no more than 0.2mg of CBD per pound per day. So let's say your dog, Luna, weighs 50 pounds. You should give her no more than 10 mg of CBD oil per day.

What is the best way to administer the CBD oil?

Sublingually for 30-45 seconds. This just means placing the CBD oil underneath your tongue. The reason being - the area underneath your tongue has tiny blood capillaries. Here, compounds are absorbed directly and very fast into your system without passing through the digestive system.

Can I mix CBD with something?

Yes you can. Our customers have added our CBD oil to coffee and smoothies to name a few! Remember though, the most effective way to absorb CBD is sublingually.

Can I overdose on CBD?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), "CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential" and "CBD is generally well tolerated with a good safety profile. On top of CBD not being lethal, there are truly little to no CBD oil side effects at all. The CBD oil side effects that you might experience as a result of taking cannabidiol are very minimal, and they subside on their own with time! A few of these side effects may include dizziness, dry mouth, or fatigue.

Is CBD legal in the US?

Yes. In the United States, CBD extracted from hemp plants with less than 0.3% THC is legal on a federal level. CBD extracted from marijuana plants is not legal, however.

Is CBD legal in Europe?

Yes, but it is different than the USThe key difference between CBD laws in Europe and the US is that CBD in Europe usually cannot contain more than 0.2% THC. Please note that each country’s CBD oil legal rulings are different (and changing). Visit the relevant country's government website for more information and updates.
