Still have questions about this all-natural remedy for your best friend? Here is a detailed overview of everything you need to know about hemp oil.

What is Hemp Oil?

You keep hearing people talk about hemp oil. It's the talk of the town.

But you keep asking yourself...

"What is hemp oil, anyway?" Why are so many people talking about it? Does it actually do something?

These are all great questions!

In this article, we debunk some of the myths you may have about hemp and dive deep into common questions like-

     - Is hemp oil legal in the US?
     - Does hemp oil get you high?
     - What are the hemp oil oil benefits?
     - Can hemp oil help with my anxiety/stress?
     - Can I give hemp oil to my cat or dog?
     - Can hemp oil help with body pain?

If you're ready to learn all about hemp oil you're in the right place.

Let's begin!

Btw - if you make it to the end, there is a special surprise waiting for you!

"Hemp" falls in a category of plant that causes a lot of confusion. Rightfully so! Some plants are recognized for their high THC levels. THC is the substance responsible for getting people high.

Other plants like hemp, do not contain nearly as much THC as other plants in this family. If you’ve ever burned an aromatherapy candle in your home, or enjoyed an authentic acai bowl somewhere beautiful, then you are likely far more familiar with hemp plants than you realize.

See, acai bowls usually have hemp seeds scattered on top. And aromatherapy candles are often made with hemp seed oil in the candle wax.

Hemp plants are the source of many products we use on a day-to-day basis, and most of the time, we don’t even know that hemp is one of the main ingredients!

Hemp is everywhere!

In short, some plants in this family have very high THC concentrations, and that’s why people can get high from them. Hemp plants are mostly made up of hemp oil, and as a result, you will not get high from hemp oil products!

The main difference between these two plants comes down to how much THC each type of plant contains. We’ll dive deeper into what THC is in a moment, but for now, just remember that hemp oil will never get you high. Only THC can!

Hemp oil comes in various forms, including…

     - Tinctures
     - Edibles
     - Gummies
     - Lotions
     - Creams
     - Bath bombs
     - Vapor

Today, we’re going to focus on hemp extract, also known as hemp oil. Let’s start with a more in-depth view of hemp oil, including how it compares to another popular plant compound...THC!

What is the Difference Between Hemp Oil and THC?

There are numerous naturally-occurring compounds in these plants. We’re talking upwards of 483 separate substances. But trying to tackle all of them would take forever, and truth be told, not all of them are worth paying attention to when learning about hemp plants.

However, in order to comprehend hemp oil on a larger scale, it helps to break these compounds down into categories.

The five major groups of compounds in hemp plants include…

     - Active plant compounds
     - Flavonoids
     - Terpenes
     - Essential oils
     - Omega fatty acids

For now, we’re going to zero in on the active plant compounds. In hemp plants, there are roughly 65 known plant compounds. Together, hemp oil and THC are the top two most recognized active plant compounds. Though they have this in common, they also differ in some very major ways.

THC is the psychoactive compound in certain plants in this family. Simply put, THC is the substance that causes people to get high. THC is also found in hemp plants, but hemp plants contain no more than 0.3% THC, which is not enough to cause anyone to feel high.

THC tends to cause people to feel a tingling sensation in their body, and when that goes away, you feel light as a feather while also being incredibly relaxed. THC also causes people to process the world around them a lot slower than usual, which can be fun for some.

However, if you have a history of anxiety, or you simply don’t like feeling out of touch with reality, then THC is not going to be your cup of tea.

Hemp Oil

Hemp oil is the non-psychoactive compound in hemp plants. Simply put, it will not get you high.

If you've already looked into hemp oil, then you probably already found out that there are 3 different kinds, including…

     - Isolates
     - Full Spectrum
     - Broad Spectrum

What’s the difference between these 3 types of hemp oil you ask? Let’s continue!

Isolates are the purest form. To make an isolate, it goes through an extra extraction process once the initial extraction has occurred.

Therefore, isolates are about 99% pure and have most other plant compounds removed. Think, no terpenes, flavonoids, and other compounds… just hemp oil.

Full Spectrum

Compared to isolates, full spectrum hemp oil is on the complete opposite side of the spectrum.

Full spectrum contains all of the other naturally present whole plant compounds (we are talking flavonoids, terpenes, essential oils, and omega fatty acids).

But have no fear...the THC concentration will never surpass the maximum allowance of 0.3% THC, which is the legal limit in the United States.

Real quick - If you have a dog or cat who suffers from arthritis, separation anxiety, chronic body pain, or poor sleep, we know how hard it is to see them in pain everyday...limping up the stairs, crying at night, barking as you leave the house. It's painful to watch.

But it doesn't have to be that way! We want to help you eliminate their pain, heal their body, and make them feel vibrant again using ONLY all-natural, eco-friendly remedies and no harsh chemicals and prescription drugs.

One remedy that could help you is all-natural, organic hemp oil. If you're ready to embark on a holistic healing journey and are interested in getting your very own organic full spectrum hemp oil for pets, just click the button below!

Broad Spectrum

Hemp oil classified as broad spectrum is a middle ground between isolates and full spectrum. Broad spectrum is essentially the same as full spectrum, with the only difference being that broad spectrum has been stripped of all traces of THC.

The Best Form of Hemp Oil for You

Choosing the right hemp oil for you is a personal choice, but it’s hard to make a decision when you don’t understand the effects different forms of hemp oil!

Essentially, full spectrum is going to be the most effective because of something known as the “entourage effect.”

This phenomenon explains the way plant compounds, flavonoids, terpenes, essential oils, and omega fatty acids come together to enhance the positive effects of hemp oil. To summarize, the plant compounds bind to receptors in the endocannabinoid system (ECS).

Yep, that’s right! Both humans and mammals alike have an internal system for processing hemp oil. The responsibility of the endocannabinoid system is to maintain health and balance within our bodies. It’s very similar to our nervous systems and our immune systems, but for active hemp plant compounds instead!

Some people are very adamant about not wanting to take hemp oil that contains THC, and that is perfectly fine! If you fall into this category, we suggest that you start with isolates. If you find that the isolate form is not yielding any obvious effects, consider giving broad spectrum a try.

Hemp Oil for Dogs and Cats: Which Type Should Your Pets Take?

From external oils and lotions, to dog treats and pet chews, hemp oil for dogs and cats may help improve your pet’s quality of life in so many ways. Just make sure that you buy hemp oil that is labelled for pets. Dogs and cats should not consume hemp oil designed for people.

Even though hemp oil seems identical across the board, there are differences between hemp oil for pets and hemp oil for humans.

Hemp oil for people sometimes has ingredients, such as xylitol, which is fine for human consumption, but is toxic to our pets! Also, if you purchase a flavored hemp oil for yourself, that added flavoring may be harmful to your pet as well. So, keep an eye out and make sure the intended use of the hemp oil is for pets before administering it to your furry friends.

Hemp oil for dogs and cats works wonders for pets of all sizes. Many pet owners have noticed significant improvement in their pets after giving them regular doses of hemp oil.

Our community has told us hemp oil for pets may help with:

     - arthritis
     - joint pain and inflammation
     - stress and anxiety
     - moderate to severe pain
     - seizures and epilepsy
     - trouble sleeping

If you feel more comfortable giving your pet hemp oil without any traces of THC, then we advise administering an isolate or broad spectrum oil to your pet.

If the presence of very minimal amounts of THC is appealing to you because of the “entourage effect”, then full spectrum is the way to go!

At the end of the day, you want to make sure the hemp oil is effective for your pet, so pay close attention to how they react, whether it’s an isolate, broad spectrum, or full spectrum.

If your cat or dog is taking other medications, please consult with a veterinarian before administering hemp oil.

Is Hemp Oil Legal?

A common question surrounding hemp oil has to do with the legality of the substance. Hemp oil is legal in some places and illegal in others. We get it - the laws can be confusing!

Hemp in the United States

In the United States, hemp oil extracted from hemp plants with less than 0.3% THC is legal on a federal level. Hemp oil extracted from other plants in this family is not legal, however.

But the good news is… You don’t have to worry about hemp oil being illegal when you get one that is customer trusted and certified! To get your own organic hemp oil for pets made from the best hemp in sunny Colorado , just click the button below. Of course, this product is 100% legal in all 50 US states since it's made from hemp plants.

Hemp Laws in Europe

Laws regarding hemp oil are different around the world.

As we’ve seen with the United States, the legality of hemp oil can differ from region to region as well. The same applies to hemp laws in Europe. The key difference between hemp laws in Europe and the US is that hemp in Europe usually cannot contain more than 0.2% THC.

If you recall, the limit is 0.3% THC in the United States, so it seems like a pretty minor detail...but it’s actually very important to know!

Hemp oil is legal in these European countries...

     - Austria
     - Belgium
     - Bulgaria
     - Croatia
     - The Czech Republic
     - Denmark, with a prescription
     - Estonia
     - Finland
     - France
     - Germany
     - Greece
     - Hungary
     - Ireland
     - Latvia
     - Lithuania
     - Luxembourg
     - Malta
     - Poland
     - Portugal
     - The Republic of Cyprus
     - Romania
     - Slovenia
     - Spain
     - Sweden
     - Switzerland
     - The United Kingdom

Hemp oil is not legal in these European countries…

     - Italy
     - Netherlands
     - Slovakia

Please note that each country’s hemp oil legal rulings are different (and changing). Visit the relevant country's government website for more information and updates.

The US Farm Bill of 2018

In 2018, the United States government passed a bill known as the US Farm Bill, which was a follow-up bill that succeeded the passing of the Farm Bill of 2014. The US Farm Bill of 2018 removed full spectrum and broad spectrum products from the list of Schedule I drugs.

Also, the Farm Bill of 2018 opened the doors for hemp growers to utilize federal services.

Prior to the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp growers couldn't use government-owned banks to hold the money they made from hemp-related transactions. The Farm Bill 2018 was the turning point for acknowledging that hemp plants are legal in the US on a federal level.

The <0.3% THC Law for Hemp Oil

In order to label an herbal product as hemp oil in the US, the product must contain no more than 0.3% THC.

A product with a higher concentration of THC is subsequently capable of causing psychoactive effects. This means that it can alter the mental state and influence the physical abilities of the person who consumes the product.

Btw - if you’re curious why some products say "hemp oil" or "hemp extract" it's because of the ever-changing regulations around these types of herbal products. Make sure you read the label and do the research to understand exactly what ingredients are used in the product you purchase.

Is Hemp Oil Safe?

Hemp oil is one of the safest substances you can add to your life when sourced from a high-quality and trusted company.

Since hemp oil contains less than 0.3% THC, it doesn’t have the propensity to make you high. As a result, you are not under the influence when you consume hemp oil because it doesn’t alter your mental processes, nor does it affect your physical abilities.

Even though hemp oil can, at times, resemble other plants in this family in terms of how it smells (and how the actual plant looks too), remember that hemp oil is unique.

This phenomenon simply comes down to the presence of similar terpenes and flavonoids in hemp oil. However, the differentiating factor is THC. hemp oil does not contain enough of it to be considered a psychoactive substance.

How Hemp Oil Can Work For Your

The list of hemp oil benefits goes on and on! Our customers have told us hemp oil may help with:

      - stress and anxiety
      - sleep
      - pain relief
      - joint pain and inflammation
      - seizures and epilepsy
      - chronic pain
      - arthritis

Please remember that everyone is different, so regular hemp oil use might not affect you the same way it affects other people. These are simply some of the most common hemp oil benefits that people may experience.

Hemp Oil Side Effects

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), "[Hemp oil] exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential" and "is generally well tolerated with a good safety profile. Reported adverse effects may be as a result of drug-drug interactions between [hemp oil] and patients’ existing medications."

On top of hemp oil not being lethal, there are truly little to no side effects.

The hemp oil side effects that you might experience are very minimal, and they subside on their own with time! A few of these side effects may include dizziness, dry mouth, or fatigue.

As we discussed earlier, hemp oil cannot cause you to feel high, seeing as it’s not a psychoactive substance.

If you ever feel abnormal or off, try to remember that it might be in your head. The hemp oil itself is not causing you to feel differently, aside from relaxing your body and calming your mind.

More often than not, these hemp oil side effects are more psychosomatic than anything else. This just means that the symptoms are brought on by your mind rather than an actual physical concern.

However, like everything in life, too much of anything is never good. Always adhere to the recommendations printed on the labels of hemp oil products. Everyone is different, so use your discretion when dosing oil for people and pets alike.

In effort to best serve you and your pet, we advise you to consult with your doctor or qualified health care professional if you have any additional questions on the safety and side effects of hemp oil.

How Much Hemp Oil Should You Take?

Determining how much hemp oil humans should take is more of a trial-and-error process than anything else. There will be a recommended dosage on the label of your hemp oil bottle, so make sure you check the side of the container before taking your first dose.

A general rule of thumb is to start with 15-30mg of hemp oil per day, and gradually increase your dosage as you learn more about how your body reacts.

Not sure how to administer hemp oil? Simply, follow the steps below!

Easy Dosage Plan

1. Determine how much hemp oil (mg) you want to take
(Use this dosage calculator for help)

2. Pour the hemp oil under your tongue and wait at least 30 seconds (this is the best way to absorb it into the body) before swallowing

3. See how you feel after about 30-40 minutes. Adjust the dosage as needed.

We highly encourage you to document your journey, too! Consider journaling about your experience and write down how you feel while taking hemp oil. Mention the dosage and the type of hemp oil next to each passage, too!

For pets, the recommended dosage is no more than 0.2mg of hemp oil per pound per day. So let's say your dog, Luna, weighs 50 pounds. You should give her no more than 10 mg of hemp oil per day.

For smaller pets, always administer slightly less than the recommended dose. Monitor how they react, and then proceed accordingly.

Please consult a professional if you have any further questions regarding hemp oil for dogs and cats.
