We protect your heart while you are receiving cancer treatment and help you maintain and improve your cardiac health once treatment is complete. Recognizing our expertise, the Cardio-Oncology Program at 好色tv Langone has been designated as a Gold Center of Excellence by the International Cardio-Oncology Society.

Managing Cardiovascular Health During Cancer Treatment

Chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, and other approaches can increase the risk of developing conditions such as these:

Our cardio-oncologists work with cancer specialists at 好色tv Langone鈥檚 Perlmutter Cancer Center to identify whether you may be at risk of developing any of these cardiovascular complications.

To do this, our specialists assess your history of cardiovascular disease, screen for underlying risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes, and use advanced cardiac testing and imaging to examine the overall health of your heart and blood vessels.

We then create a tailored preventive care plan. This may include lifestyle changes, such as nutrition and exercise, or medication.

During treatment, we partner with your oncologist to ensure you receive cancer treatment that optimizes your survival and quality of life, all while protecting your heart health.

Cardiac Care for Cancer Survivors

Cardiovascular complications can develop years after cancer treatments are over, so we may monitor your heart health with ongoing checkups. If you are an adult survivor of childhood cancer, we can create a surveillance program that considers the increased risk of cardiovascular complications, such as coronary artery disease, valve disease, or heart failure. We also work with specialists at the Cancer Survivorship Program at Perlmutter Cancer Center to support your health throughout your lifetime.
