The Geriatric Cardiology Program was established in order to address the needs of older adults with cardiovascular disease. Older adults who have heart disease, usually those over age 70, often have other medical illnesses as well, which makes treatment more challenging. For example, effective medications for heart disease may have an increased risk of side effects in older adults or may interact with other medications.
