Researchers at the Child Study Center have developed a unique organizational skills training program to help improve the home and school lives of children with ADHD.
Children and adolescents are instructed in organizational techniques during individual sessions with trained and supervised clinicians. Parents and teachers also receive guidance in behavior modification. In addition, we help college students and young adults improve their organizational skills and time management.
Parent鈥揷hild interaction therapy (PCIT) improves the parent鈥揷hild relationship by increasing positive feelings between parents and children, improving child behavior, and coaching parents to use consistent, predictable, and effective parenting strategies. This form of therapy is designed to help change problematic and disruptive behaviors in children ages 2 to 7.
Parents of children with less-pronounced behavioral issues may benefit from briefer, targeted parenting consultations, available individually or in parenting groups. Older children or teens and their parents often benefit from family sessions where rules, responsibilities, privileges, and consequences are established collaboratively.
We work with schools to develop behavioral management programs for student populations to improve teacher鈥搒tudent interactions. We train teachers, aides, and paraprofessionals in effective behavior management tools and techniques.
For individual students, we collaborate with educational teams to obtain appropriate accommodations for the children we service, including Individualized Education Programs and听504 Plans for children with different abilities.
