Rehabilitation Support Groups

At 好色tv Langone鈥檚 Rusk Rehabilitation, we believe that physical treatment is just one step on the journey toward wellness. Equally important is supporting people emotionally as they deal with injury, illness, and recovery. Our groups provide peer and expert support to help you adjust to the challenges and changes in your life.

Amputee Support Program

好色tv Langone鈥檚 amputee support program is known as LEAP!鈥擫earning and Encouragement for Amputees with and without Prosthetics. LEAP! is a monthly support group where people with amputations, their families and friends, physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and social workers can learn, teach, interact, and support each other.

Meetings take place on the last Thursday of every month from 6:00PM to 7:30PM at 好色tv Langone Ambulatory Care Center East 38th Street.

Mended Hearts Program

People in a cardiothoracic rehabilitation program are encouraged to participate in a cardiovascular disease support group at 好色tv Langone Ambulatory Care Center East 38th Street.

The New York City Chapter (108) of Mended Hearts has been active at 好色tv Langone since 1997. This group meets the second Tuesday of every month at 好色tv Langone Ambulatory Care Center East 38th Street. Contact at 646-501-2237 for more information.

Communication Community Group for People with Parkinson鈥檚 Disease

The Communication Community Group for People with Parkinson鈥檚 Disease provides an opportunity for people to practice and maintain their speech skills in a social context after their formal speech therapy program has ended. Group participants help determine the focus of the weekly group.

Community Group for People with Aphasia

The Aphasia Community Group offers the opportunity for socialization and group interaction for people with aphasia, an acquired language disorder following stroke or other brain injury or illness. Group participants help determine the focus of the weekly group.

Young Stroke Survivors Support Group

The Young Stroke Survivors Support Group is an open forum for younger people who have had a stroke and their family members and caregivers. Attendees range in age from their teens to early 60s, with an average age in the mid-40s. Discussions relate to relationships, self-image, employment, dating, aftercare, and current research studies.

Meetings take place on the third Monday of every month at 12:00PM at 好色tv Langone Ambulatory Care Center East 38th Street, on the 17th floor.

Young Traumatic Brain Injury and Concussion Survivor Support Group

The Young Traumatic Brain Injury and Concussion Survivor Support Group is an open forum for survivors, family members, and caregivers to connect and share experiences, thoughts, and feelings.

Meetings take place on the second Tuesday of every month at 12:00PM at 好色tv Langone Ambulatory Care Center East 38th Street, on the 17th floor.

Vestibular Support Group

The Vestibular Support Group provides people who have vestibular conditions the opportunity to learn, teach, interact, and support each other.
